The activity of the Gallardo Family Group is carried out mainly through the companies Almirall and Goodgrower, focused on people’s health, and Grupo Corporativo Landon (Family Office), focused on real estate, financial, and private equity businesses. Fundación Áurea channels the family’s philanthropic activities.

The pharmaceutical company was founded in 1943 and it focuses on patients, health professionals, partners, employees and other groups of interest. It is committed to R&D to develop products that provide effective solutions to real needs.

It was founded in 2008 as an investment company focused on the Healthcare Business to provide “smart capital” to companies in this industry, with a long-term innovative approach, creating value for patients, employees and investors.
Manages the second private group of hospitals in Spain, Vithas Group, focusing on private clients and insurance companies.
Fundación Áurea
It was created in 2009 to contribute to solve and mitigate different social problems. With that objective, personal and financial resources are devoted to projects, especially to those covering basic needs and health care and those facilitating labor insertion for vulnerable social groups. Involved in projects in the areas: Family, Healthcare, Elderly people and Childhood, and also Humanitarian Emergency Response.

For many years, the Gallardo Family history has been linked to the growth of the pharmaceutical company Almirall.
Since its creation in 1943, Almirall has preserved the ethical and entrepreneurial spirit of its founder as well as the focus on the improvement of people’s quality of life through the research and development of pharmaceutical products.
Subsequently, Grupo Corporativo Landon (Family Office) was established, along with the founding of Goodgrower (2008) in the healthcare sector and Fundación Áurea (2009).
Since 2000, the governance structure of the Gallardo Family Group has been developed continuously, including the drafting of the Family Constitution, which states the Mission and the Family Values, among other subjects.
Nowadays, the family group consists of three generations: the 2nd generation (Antonio Gallardo Ballart and Jorge Gallardo Ballart and his wife), the 3rd generation (6 family members) and the 4th generation (19 family members).
Antonio Gallardo Carrera was born on June 20, 1908. He studied at the school of Commerce of Barcelona and later he joined the former Compagnie Aéropostale (currently, Air France).
He worked for 25 years for the Compagnie Aéropostale as Regional Delegate. His position allowed him to foster relationships between France and Spain, receiving the highest French distinction, the Officer of the Legion of Honor.
Antonio Gallardo Carrera founded the pharmaceutical company Almirall in 1943, with the support of the pharmacist Victor Almirall Rius. Over time, his sons, Antonio and Jorge Gallardo Ballart, joined the company and years later, after the passing of their father, took over the business and prepared the six members of the third generation to take up the reins of the family and business, laying the foundations of the Gallardo Family Group.
Antonio Gallardo Ballart was born on March 12, 1936. In 1952 he joined Almirall, at the age of 16 years, with a solid international education in Commerce. He held different executive positions at the Company such as Sales and Marketing Manager, being responsible for the launch of key products resulting from Almirall’s research: Almax, Cleboril and Ebastel, as well as various licensed products. After his father’s passing in 1988, he and his brother, Jorge, took the reins of the business, fostering the modernization and internationalization of the Company.
In 1992 Jorge and Antonio started the development of the Family Governance structure, which achieved the transition to the Third Generation in 2022.
Antonio was President of Grupo Corporativo Landon (Family Office) until 2014 and Chairman of the Family Council until 2016.
He was President at Almirall until he left the position in the hands of his brother, Jorge Gallardo Ballart, and, also, he was Vice-President and Member of the Board until 2014.
He is currently Co-President of the Gallardo Family Group and President of the Palarq Foundation.

After the passing of his father in 1988, he and his brother, Antonio, took the reins of the business, fostering the modernization and internationalization of the Company.
In 1992, Jorge and Antonio started the development of the Family Governance structure, which achieved the transition to the Third Generation in 2022.
Jorge held different executive positions at Almirall. He was CEO from 1997 to 2001, President and CEO from 2001 to 2011. From 2011 to 2022 he was Almirall’s Executive President. Currently, he is Co-President of the Gallardo Family Group and President of Corporación Zamap.
